communication? What are the social effects of broadband service? How

does the broadband service make digital convergence possible?

People can understand news together on a global scale, creating a connection between different cultures and issues around the world. A variety of sources also becomes available making communication more effective. High quality video and audio made digital convergence possible by distributing all media through the internet.

2.   Why does the use of the World Wide Web open the door of the Internet
communication to a much wider audience? In what way does the Web
with graphical web browsers move the online communication to
“acoustic world” discussed in the previous class?

The World Wide Web opens the door of the internet communication to a much wider audience since they are described as a global electronic-publishing medium accessed through the internet. The web with graphical web browsers move the online communication to “acoustic world” when they constantly change websites and text along with audio and visual. 

3.   How might telecommunication change if the government supported the
development of broadband Internet for everyone?

If the government were to support the development of broadband internet to everyone, then I believe that prices for high speed internet from cable providers would actually decrease since faster internet would be pretty standard. I don’t believe that overall internet access would increase but instead stay the same. Just because the majority of people have slower internet connection now, it does not mean that people are not using it.  

4.   News organizations were changed by the telegraph, and a whole new
business of news, that of the wire services, was created because of the
telegraph. Discuss other industries that could benefit from rapid
dissemination of information and how and why they would benefit from
It.

One industry that could benefit from rapid dissemination of information is the county’s mailing service. Paper mail is still used today and does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. If the postal service somehow find a way to convert mail documents into electronic documents within seconds and electronically send them to a destination’s email or even a fax machine, then people would be getting mail a lot quicker and easier.  

5.   Choose one of the common methods of online communication and think
of how it could be improved in terms of facilitating communication
between people, ensuring quality communication, and enabling the
greatest number of users to distribute information. 

The method of communication that could be improved is FaceTiming and video chatting. Although FaceTime, Skype, and other video chat communications are used very often and is nowadays very reliable, it is far from perfect. Video chatting is usually blurry and does not have the best quality audio. It is not uncommon for longer video calls to drop or freeze completely. Video chatting with multiple people at once on a mobile device is even worse quality and not yet considered completely reliable. FaceTime could also benefit from a taste or touch feature, enhancing the human experience of the media. Three dimensional media and hologram typing is also something that could make user's mobile experience more enhanced.

This is to say that consumers are accessing different content on different media, however all of that content is specific to one story. 2.
