Virtual Revolution

1.   The web is celebrated as the revolutionary technology that is great leveling of humanity creating equal opportunity, equal access, and equal potential. However, there are only a quarter of people on the earth who can use it. How do you explain the controversial argument here? Some people cannot access or afford technology. The world without the Internet is hard. Information cannot get to any area and help a foreign country or warn of a war. Without this technology, countries can be completely isolated without contact to the outside world. Some countries only have accessible internet in their libraries or schools but rarely in public places or at home. 2.   How is Wi kipedia the best example to implement the leveling ideas of the Web rooted in the cultural revolution of the 1960s, namely the Libertarianism in the counterculture? How does it explain some of the digital convergences? Wikipedia undercuts authority by giving average people...

Social Media Ruining Election & Blogging Politics and Social Change

1.   Twitter is not helpful in building healthy political discourse. According to   the author, it is “antithetical to sophisticated, thoughtful political   conversation.” Why?   At its core, Twitter is a messaging service allowing users (who can remain anonymous) to tweet out in only 140 words whatever information they want. The anonymous nature allows for false information and inaccuracy that can create a larger disconnect. The conversations are also very limited and do not need to be continued or agreed on. These conversations are important to resolve in politics, but Twitter does not allow the conversation or the resolution occur in some situations.e   2.   The spokeswoman of twitter thinks social media democratized political conversation. In what way do you think she is correct?     She is correct because since every user is given a chance to voice their opinion to either all their followers or in opposition to somebody random, ever...

President Donald Trump national security advisor John Bolton on September 10, 2019. His resignation was due to a series of arguments regarding trade with China and Taliban negotiations. A final incident leading to Trump's decision were reports of Bolton disagreeing with Trump's Camp David plan. The reports arose over the weekend, which upset Trump. Donald Trump asked Bolton for his resignation on Monday, and on Tuesday he resigned. The two also disagreed on the Afghanistan deal as well. Bolton had previously been disagreeing with Mike Pence and Mike Pompeo. Bolton also was not apprehensive when it came to military conflict and was very skeptical of negotiations with the Taliban. Bolton and Trump disagreed on Trump wanting leaders of the Taliban to visit Camp David days before the anniversary of September 11, 2011 in an effort to finalize peace talks. Some suggest that John Bolton's absence will give the Trump Administration an easier approach when dealing with Venezuela, Ir...

Digital McLuhan

1. The pre-literate acoustic was not widely accessible. The alphabetical visual world is easily remade and  mass produced, where the preliterate acoustic world required skill and work to be created.  2. The alphabet had segregating tendencies because it could not be known universally because  it could not be seen at more than one place at the same time. It also took time and effort to recreate  the alphabet. The printing press reverses these tendencies by being able to print many more copies  of the alphabet  3. The alphabetic communication in online communication makes cyberspace acoustic  because it is easy to interact with anywhere in the world day and night.  The availability to interact was greater, and consumers opinions could be considered.   4. The two criteria for selection are wanting media to extend our communication beyond the biological  boundaries of seeing and hearing and wanting media to recapture el...

Questions for “Introduction: ‘Worship at the Altar of Convergence’”

1. Media convergence occurs the communication and media fields in an effort to benefit both consumer and business. Business's may see media convergence as an opportunity to expand their reach and control to unite consumers on multiple technology platforms. On the other hand consumers use media convergence as a tool to collaborate with other consumers. 2. They discuss divergence between television to internet, cinema and mobile phones, video games and traditional media, political culture and between consumers and television producers. 3.
